Robert Holyhead

HIDDE VAN SEGGELEN is delighted to announce the forthcoming exhibition by acclaimed British artist Robert Holyhead, opening on Thursday, April 10th, 2025. This marks the artist’s first solo exhibition with the gallery. The exhibition will offer a focused look at Holyhead’s distinctive approach to abstraction, presenting two significant paintings from 2023 alongside a compelling early work from 2014, and works on paper drawn from the artist’s archives.

Known for his delicately executed and intimate abstract paintings, Holyhead’s work invites prolonged contemplation, revealing intricate relationships between form, surface, and light. His practice involves a highly developed vocabulary of colour, shape and line articulated through a personal visual language of positive and negative space created by the application and removal of paint. This method results in surfaces of remarkable depth and luminosity, where subtle shifts in hue and texture create a quiet yet powerful visual experience. 

Opening 10 April at 6 pm. The exhibition is on view until 31 May 2025.
