Works by Andy Holden and Harmen Brethouwer are included in the exhibition of the collection of Dutch art collector Jos Ruijs at Museum Nairac, Barneveld, the Netherlands.
The exhibition VR | Collection Ruijs offers a fascinating glimpse into the world of Jos Ruijs, a striking art collector with a keen eye for contemporary art. Like a modern explorer, Ruijs has amassed an impressive collection that reflects his adventurous spirit and insatiable curiosity.
With ‘travel’ as its central theme, this exhibition takes visitors on a visual odyssey through the diverse landscapes of contemporary art. Just as artists over the centuries have found inspiration in their travels to faraway places, Ruijs has curated his collection as a collection of personal artistic discoveries.
The exhibition showcases a carefully curated selection from Ruijs’ extensive collection, with each work opening a door to new perspectives and experiences. From the penetrating photography, to the surprising interpretations in paint and paper-each piece invites wonder and reflection.
Visitors are invited to travel with him through the eyes of Jos Ruijs, whose passion for art has led him to many galleries, fairs and studios. His eclectic tastes and openness to different media – from photography and painting to sculpture and mixed media – reflect the richness and diversity of the contemporary art scene.
